Parents, PTA need your help! Please consider filling one of these open positions at Nixon.

Social and Emotional Learning Coordinator/Committee

SEL (social and emotional learning) skills are very crucial for a well-rounded and a ‘whole child’ development and growth.

This can be a one-person position or if a few volunteers are interested, it can be a Committee position as well.

Duties:

Ensure that their school site is paying equal attention to and are imparting relevant SEL Skills to all the children in their school (and not just focusing on Academics). Also as part of that, they will be working to help with Parent Engagement and Awareness.

Auditor

The purpose of an audit is to verify that PTA funds are collected and spent as approved by membership. The Auditor determines the accuracy of PTA financial records, ensures that funds are handled in a business-like manner, and makes recommendations for best practices.

Duties:
  • Audit the books and financial records of a PTA to determine their accuracy
  • Present written reports on audits to the board and the association for adoption
  • Forwards copies of adopted audits to council/district PTA as indicated in unit bylaws

“Girls on the Run” Coach

Be a part of this amazing afterschool program for 3rd-5th grade girls! We need parents to become trained as coaches, so this program can continue at Nixon.

Girls on the Run incorporates fitness with lessons to encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development. At the end of each three-month session, the girls participate in a Girls on the Run 5K event!

Duties:

-Can be one person, or find a partner(s) and be co-coaches!
-Lead two 90-minute practices after school each week, for 10 weeks March-May
-You will be completely trained on curriculum, and have other parents as helpers

For all details on becoming a coach see this flyer or go to https://www.girlsontherun.org/What-We-Do/3rd-5th-Grade-Program.
