Ways Children Can Keep the First or Second Language While Learning English

Deciding whether or how to raise your child bilingually?

What does it mean to be bilingual?

An Evening with Monica Malamud, Ph.D.

Event participants will learn about different models of bilingualism that can be used at home. Dr. Malamud will provide parents of English Learners interactive examples of techniques that work well in helping children maintain their home language while learning English. Teachers and administrators join us to find out ways to support English Learners and their parents.

Dr. Malamud earned her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Boston University. She has taught Spanish at Cañada College since 2001. Prior to her tenure at Cañada she was an instructor at Stanford University, Tufts University, Brandeis University and Boston University. Dr. Malamud has taught all levels of Spanish: from beginner to advanced, literature and Spanish for Heritage Speakers.

Childcare for grades K- 5 will be provided.
